We all know that Millennials would much rather punch in their credit card numbers online than walk into a store. Hell, a lot of the time I would too. But even big e-commerce businesses like Amazon are building store fronts.
Why does Amazon need a store front?
The same reason you do; to build a personal relationship with your customer. And, to offer in-person deals that customers will not be able to resist. Luckily for all of the rest of us who aren’t Amazon, you don’t need all of Amazon’s resources to make your brick and mortar a f*cking selling machine.
Besides product on shelves and a checkout counter, what are you doing with your store? Do you have a space to do demonstrations of your product? How are you using large areas of your store? Is there enough room to set up chairs once a month and invite an influential business owner or bodybuilder to speak?
Think about how your space can become more than just a vehicle for product. Figure out a way to invite customers into your space for purposes other than just selling to them. They will appreciate your interest in offering them something to learn as well as your willingness to work after-hours to build the community.
Do you know what you have that online retailers don’t? Instant gratification. Sometimes, we just can’t wait for an online delivery. Embrace the notion that sometimes people just need what they need right away. Host a fight night! Or a football game! Showing potential customers a good time will help them remember you when they need that one supplement right away.
Arrange for important people in your community or celebrities to stop by your store to sign autographs and get people in the door. Is there a local athlete with 10K or more social media followers? Invite them over for an appearance, create an online invitation and ask them to share it with their community as well.
So many retailers struggle with their e-commerce competition, or straight up don’t know how to turn their digital sales into physical sales. That’s why we’re here to help: to share our knowledge of the retail and digital space to give you a better chance at success.
